| Congressman Blumeanuer's Statement on and List of High Priority Project Requests |
| Thursday, 14 May 2009 | |
|
The Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure is in the process of crafting a new transportation bill that will authorize America’s transportation programs for the next six years. This is a critical bill as it will not only outline a vision for transportation for the better part of the next decade, but it will also allocate funding to state Departments of Transportation, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, and local cities and counties to fund for their transportation priorities.
To compliment the work done by these agencies, and to ensure communities are full partners in these important programs, a small percentage of the overall investment in this bill may fund High Priority Projects that are designated by Members of Congress. Following is a list of transportation requests for funding that were submitted to my office.
I will
be working hard to make sure that the upcoming transportation bill
articulates a vision for transportation in America, that it includes
funding and support for multiple modes of transportation including
transit, high speed rail, cycling, trails, bridges and highways. Most
importantly, it should make the federal government a better
partner with local communities as we seek to advance our collective
transportation priorities, creating jobs and protecting the environment
and making our communities and families, safer, healthier, and more
economically secure.
If you have questions about any of these projects, or about the transportation bill, please contact my Portland or Washington, D.C. office.
Sincerely,
