Speaking before members of the Portland Garden Club (PGC), Congressman Blumenauer answered questions focusing on both the environmental impacts of the Farm Bill legislation as well as ways to move beyond the gridlock in Washington DC. The PGC is a member organization of the Garden Club of America, a volunteer nonprofit organization comprised of member clubs throughout the country that work toward improving communities through education, conservation, and horticulture. Blumenauer praised the Garden Club members for their advocacy work on Capitol Hill and their championing of conservation causes.
“I am always heartened when the Garden Club visits Washington,” Blumenauer commented. “A diverse coalition arriving from all across America – red states, blue states, purple states, these are people who are intensely political and focused on the leaving the world a little bit greener. Their passion, energy, and clarity of purpose is striking.”
