Keeping up the fight for your care
May 30, 2019
Every day, millions of Americans living with pre-existing conditions like asthma, diabetes, cancer, mental illness or substance abuse, fear losing their health care coverage.
Republican leaders across the country have been working hard to take away health care from people who need it most. Repeated attacks against the Affordable Care Act (ACA) have threatened insurance coverage for millions.
This week, the House voted to stop Trump’s dangerous guidance from October 2018 that gives states the ability to weaken the ACA's critical protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions. Nearly three dozen patient and health advocacy groups expressed opposition to the administration’s action, and think that it could take us back to the days when people with pre-existing conditions were openly discriminated against and denied access to life-saving care.
Democrats in Congress are fighting to protect your healthcare, and we’re pushing for more progress. Our country needs a truly universal, single-payer health care system to guarantee health care is a right, not a privilege. We need to have an open and critical conversation about health care in the United States and build a system that provides health coverage for everyone.
Please continue to fight with me and make your voice heard to end the days of discriminatory health care.
