Blumenauer Demands Immediate Resignation of Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf
U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) today demanded the immediate resignation of Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf, a key architect of the federal government’s occupation of Portland.
In a letter sent to Wolf on Friday, Blumenauer, along with Reps. Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR), Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) and a dozen other lawmakers, said the secretary has abused his power and position, specifically citing his role inciting violence against protesters in Portland, Oregon.
“After a career as a political hack and a longtime lobbyist for special interest clients, Chad Wolf went from orchestrating the Trump administration’s atrocious family separation policy to overseeing the kidnapping of protesters in Portland,” Blumenauer said. “Clearly, he is not fit to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and should resign immediately.”
Lawmakers also noted that Wolf has remained in an acting capacity well beyond the limit designated by federal law, as determined by the Federal Vacancies Reform Act.
