Congressman Blumenauer Statement on Anti-Semitism Resolution
Washington D.C. — Congressman Earl Blumenauer released the folllowing statement on the anti-Semitism resolution put on the floor in the House this week:
"I strongly condemn anti-Semitism and believe that anti-Semitic rhetoric has no place in this country and neither does Islamophobia, homophobia, racism, misogyny and white supremacy.
However, it is important to not confuse legitimate and justified questions and concerns about actions taken by the government of Israel with hate speech. I have been deeply troubled with the Netanyahu government precisely because I care strongly about Israel’s future.
Some are using current controversies to try and shut down legitimate criticism and debate. This is wrong and we are better than this."
