Washington, DC – Today the House passed the Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act, legislation introduced by Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.). The legislation, H.R. 137, which is co-sponsored by Congressman Elton Gallegly (R-CA) and Congressman Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD), would establish felony-level jail time (up to three years) for violators of the Federal Animal Fighting Law.

The budget is expected to be voted on by the full House of Representatives next week.

Washington, DC – Today Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore), a member of the Budget Committee, announced a new opportunity to extend funding for county payments in the House Budget. Released this morning, the Fiscal Year 2008 Budget includes a reserve fund to reauthorize county payments, so long as there is an offset in the legislation.
